Quan CM Tran is a freelance video editor based in Texas. His work has garnered awards including several AICP Post Awards for Editorial, the UN Woman’s Global Voices Award, Lumiere Award and more.
He has cut on a variety of commercial project spanning various genres for clients such as Gatorade, The Home Depot, Nestle, Dodge, GM, Genesis, Hyundai, Ram, Patron, Key Bank, Cardinal Health, Hershey’s, Western Union, Coors Light, Hasbro, Pepsi, Lays, Shinola, GMC, ONE Campaign, MD Anderson, Lowe’s, Polaris, Volunteers of America, and Zaxby’s.
For television he edited several episodes of No Activity, produced by Paramount+ and Funny or Die.
Films and projects he has edited have screened at SXSW, Locarno Film Festival, CDP: Dox, Dok Leipzig, DC Shorts Film Festival, Shorts Shorts Film Festival Asia, Dallas International Film Festival, Warsaw Film Festival, Oculus House at Sundance and others.
His work on Andrew and Luke Wilson’s 360 film for Shinola was heralded by VR Scout that “There’s no doubt that filmmakers will be using this particular video as a template for their 360 projects for years to come.”
And work on Jayisha Patel’s Notes to My Father was the first VR Film about sexual trafficking. Vice called it “groundbreaking” and Documentary Magazine said it “gives a fresh perspective on the cinematic language point of view.”
Tran has also served as an advocate for Dallas CASA and helped create a film about human trafficking within the Foster care system to aid in curriculum for advocates. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Baal Dan, founded by Tanya Pinto, which helps street children in developing and emerging countries.
