The Minority Report was established in New Orleans in 2005, and has since been described as “the harvest after the storm.” Before Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans was a thriving hub for small businesses. However, the ability to achieve success greatly affected small businesses. This is when business community advocate W. Anthony Patton, MBA launched the “Minority Report” to offer economic restoration.
“Equity is the driving force of business development,” Patton says. “The way to obtain this is by ensuring we create a spotlight for black-owned businesses to bridge the gap and build wealth inclusion.”
Patton has a MBA in Business Administration and Finance, and is the Founder of the Do-WAP Agency, which specializes in Media, Marketing, Recruiting & Events. On June 20, 2013, he aided the collaborative efforts which changed the New Orleans charter laws. Thus, the City Council voted to approve the mandatory minimum for the city’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program. The program improved the fairness and consistency process by ensuring a 35% DBE participation goal is met for public contracts.
This new law was the major milestone that demonstrates the prominient role the Minority Report will represent. this year during Black History Month, the M.R. will present the “Houston 100,” a publication, website, and banquet to empower and grow minority firms in Houston. It will be recognized as a resource guide for businesses owned and operated by diverse members of the Houston community. Accessible to local, state, and federal government, privately-owned businesses, political leaders, residents, and more. Specializing in business submission assistance for RFP/RFQ, government contracts, business funding, jobs, internships and large corporate opportunites, The Minority Report H100 will display their unique products, abilities, and services to urban markets across the United States.
