XIT Rural Telephone Cooperative was organized in 1951 to provide rural telephone service to the residents of Dallam, Hartley and Sherman Counties of the Northwest Panhandle of Texas.
XIT Telecommunications & Technology, LTD, is a subsidiary of XIT Rural Telephone, dba XIT Communications.
XIT Wireless began operation in 1990 in the TX-RSA 1 providing service to an approximate 7,500 square mile home coverage area … including Dallam, Hartley, Sherman, Moore, Oldham and Deaf Smith Counties in the Texas Panhandle.
In 1996, XIT was the first to offer Dial-Up Internet service with local number access to the residents in its service area.
1998 … XIT became a CLEC operator and brought local competition to the area.
1999 … XIT started publishing it own regional telephone directory
2001 … XIT began offering Digital TV Cable and High Speed Internet.
2010 … XIT began offering HD TV, DVR, Video on Demand and even faster Internet.
Currently, XIT is doing a complete fiber overbuild in its rural exchanges.
